Liverpool transfers: Wilfried Bony ‘won’t leave Vitesse in January’
Liverpool transfers: Wilfried Bony looks set to stay at Vitesse Arnhem after club confirm they are desperate to keep him
Liverpool and Chelsea look to have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Wilfried Bony after Vitesse Arnhem insisted the striker remains part of their long-term plans.
The Ivorian forward has attracted the interest of some of the Premier League’s top clubs after netting an impressive 15 goals in 14 league outings for the Dutch side this season.
Both Liverpool and Chelsea are understood to have been considering January swoops for the 23-year-old, but Vitesse general manager Erwin Kasakowski has issued a hands-off warning by revealing the club are desperate to hold on to the former Sparta Prague man.
“We have concrete plans to keep Bony on board at this team,” Kasakowski told De Telegraaf.
“We have already started discussions with his agent behind the scenes. We will do an incredible amount to the team to make it as strong as possible for the second half of the league season – and that includes keeping Bony.
“Bony’s important for this team. The important thing is that he feels at home in this team. We absolutely want to keep him.”
