Man City 5 Aston Villa 0: Roberto Mancini pleased with strikeforce
Man City 5 Aston Villa 0: Roberto Mancini admitted his delight at seeing Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez both find the net
Roberto Mancini admitted he was pleased to see Manchester City’s strikers deliver in front of goal as his side swept past Aston Villa on Saturday.
The visitors frustrated the home side for much of the first half but David Silva eventually broke the deadlock two minutes before the interval.
Sergio Ageuro and Carlos Tevez then both bagged a brace after the break – including a penalty each – to send Mancini’s men top of the league ahead of Manchester United’s evening kick-off at Norwich City.
And the Italian admitted he was hugely frustrated with his side’s inability to break down the stubborn visitors despite bossing the first half.
“Easy games do not exist,” Mancini told BBC Sport. “We dominated the first half and had 11 chances but we scored only one goal. After the second goal maybe it was easier.
“We were frustrated in the first half because we dominated possession and had chances to score but didn’t.
“We were missing goals from the strikers. In the last game Edin [Dzeko] scored and today Sergio and Carlos scored; this is very important for us, a clean sheet and four goals from the strikers.”
