Man City captain Vincent Kompany set to face Wigan Athletic
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is set to be fit to face Wigan Athletic on Wednesday, David Platt confirms
David Platt has revealed Vincent Kompany will be fit for Manchester City’s clash against Wigan Athletic on Wednesday after recovering from a knee injury.
The Citizens skipper managed to play with through the problem in a goalless draw at Chelsea on Sunday after picking up the injury against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
“It’s not a case of it being too much at all,” Platt said.
“Vinnie would have still been feeling the effects of the injury that he picked up last Wednesday in the [Chelsea] game but he got through the game and got through it very well.
“There’s nothing to do with the injury, there were no after-effects, he iced it straight afterwards as a precaution. We don’t really have any concerns for him for Wednesday night.”
However, Platt confirmed left-back Gael Clichy would not recover from an ankle injury in time for their games against Wigan and Everton.
“He is closer but he is not there yet,” Platt said. “Gael is progressing and progressing as well if not better than we probably expected.
“But he won’t be involved. I don’t think he will be on the training pitch even towards the end of this week so Saturday [against Everton] is out as well.”
