‘Things are not going well for Hugo Lloris at Tottenham’
Olivier Giroud says his "good friend" Hugo Lloris is finding life difficult at Tottenham Hotspur this season
Olivier Giroud admits his “good friend” Hugo Lloris is finding life difficult at Tottenham Hotspur since moving to White Hart Lane this summer.
The France goalkeeper was handed just his second Premier League start of the season on Saturday but conceded five goals as Arsenal won the north London derby at Emirates Stadium.
Giroud, who netted the Gunners’ third past his international team-mate, says the 25-year-old is struggling for confidence at White Hart Lane after finding himself largely behind veteran shot-stopper Brad Friedel in the pecking order.
“Hugo is a good friend,” Giroud told RTL. “He warned me that he would start the match and we greeted each other beforehand.
“He could not do much for the goals that we scored. It was hard for him. I did not expect to talk with him about his situation. It is not going well for him.
“It’s hard and I’m trying to give him my full support. Things are like that. Everyone knows his qualities.”
