QPR’s Esteban Granero: I’m ready for the big challenge at Loftus Road
QPR's Esteban Granero says he is ready for the "big challenge" at the Hoops ahead of their must-win game against Southampton

Esteban Granero says he is relishing the “big challenge” at Queens Park Rangers ahead of their latest must-win game against Southampton on Saturday.
The 25-year-old has struggled to inspire the Hoops to their first Premier League victory of the season after completing a £9m switch from Real Madrid in August.
Granero, who won the La Liga crown with Los Blancos last term, is not fazed by the prospect of swapping title challengers for relegation battlers and the midfielder is desperate to help his new club improve.
“The beginning has been a little bit tough but I am sure it is going to get better soon,” Granero told QPR’s website.
“I am here to face this challenge. If people think I am not happy that I am here because we have not won yet, then they are wrong. We must work to get away from this situation and we are working hard for this. I am sure we will do it.
“Am I happy here? Yes, more than ever. I came here for a challenge and this is what I have.
“I wanted to face a big challenge with this club. It is a club with a lot of ambition and it wants to grow. I want to grow with it. Together we can move forward at the same time.
“I know the future is going to be good. Of course words mean nothing in football but I will say that we are training very hard for Saturday’s game and we are ready.”
Mark Hughes’ side are currently propping up the Premier League table and are five points from safety, but Granero believes QPR’s first victory will prompt a string of positive results.
“I believe the first win will change everything,” he added. “We are doing the correct things and that is why I think it’s going to be better for us very soon.”
