QPR transfers: Jermain Defoe dismisses Tottenham exit talk
QPR transfers: Jermain Defoe insists he is happy at Tottenham Hotspur and is keen to finish his career at White Hart Lane
Jermain Defoe has poured cold water on speculation linking the Tottenham striker with a January transfer to Queens Park Rangers, insisting he wants to finish his career at White Hart Lane.
The 30-year-old forward, who has already notched up 10 goals in all competitions for Spurs this term, had been touted as a potential January target for new Hoops boss Harry Redknapp as he looks to bolster his attacking options at Loftus Road.
But Defoe says he does not want to leave Tottenham and has his sights set on achieving “something special” with Andre Villas-Boas’s side.
“That’s not going to happen,” Defoe told Sky Sports. “I’m not leaving Tottenham, I love the club and to score goals at a big club like this is fantastic.
“If the opportunity comes to leave the club it won’t be happening. I don’t want to leave, I’m a Spurs player – and I’m happy.
“I think I can say I’d like to finish my career at Tottenham. I want to achieve something special here – it’s a great time to be at the club.”
