Manchester City remain in second place behind Manchester United after sharing the points in a goalless draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

There was also a stalemate between Swansea and Liverpool, while Southampton were 2-0 winners against Newcastle, and Tottenham beat West Ham United.

Here is the best of the Twitter reaction from the professionals after a busy Sunday of Premier League football.

Former Liverpool captain Phil Thompson ‏(@Phil_Thompson4) reckons a 0-0 draw at Swansea is a good result: “Nice with a clean sheet and Pepe Reina making crucial saves again. We should have won had the better chances!”

Reds youngster Raheem Sterling ‏(@sterling31) certainly felt the effects of a testing 90 minutes: “Back to Liverpool, tired is not the word!”

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson (‏@glen_johnson) felt the visitors merited three points: “Unlucky not to get three points!”

Spanish left-back Jose Enrique (@jose3enrique3) agrees: “Unlucky with the result. Should have been a goal… I think was onside but thinking about next game already. We have to beat Tottenham!!”

Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann (‏@DietmarHamann) is not impressed by Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson: “How much will the club recoup for Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing? £75m the club paid for them!”

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier ‏(@mattletiss7) is delighted to see his old club win: “Fantastic being at St Mary’s today seeing the boys get out of the bottom three with an excellent victory. Geordies a shadow of last season’s team! Great to see a clean sheet too and no coincidence us picking up points with @jackcork1 back in the side!”

England spin bowler and Newcastle fan Graeme Swann ‏(@Swannyg66) is concerned: “What’s happened to the Toon? Can’t believe we’ve got no points from the last three games. Is Peter Beardsley fit? Get him on!”

Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon (‏@Aaron7Lennon) is pleased with a 3-1 win against their London rivals: “Big win today fully deserved as well #coys roll on Wednesday – need another win to get us back on track!!!”

City striker Sergio Aguero ‏(@aguerosergiokun) is happy with a point: “It was a tough rival and a rough field. We were missing some capacity to break through but we are still undefeated and in the race.”

Citizens captain Vincent Kompany ‏(@VincentKompany) felt his side could have snuck a victory: “We had good spells and could have got more out of the game. Maybe a draw is not so bad after all. Massive thank you to our fans! #MCFC

City defender Pablo Zabaleta (‏@pablo_zabaleta) is happy to stay unbeaten: “Disappointed with a point, Chelsea is always a very tough team to beat away. but still unbeaten! Another clean sheet!”

Former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar (‏@Lord_Sugar) is “worried” for Benítez: “Has Rafa Benítez still got his job? Roman has no patience!”

And England legend Gary Lineker (‏@GaryLineker) chimes in: “Still no win for Benítez. Surprised Abramovich has persisted with him for so long!”

And former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan ‏(@MichaelVaughan) adds: “Has Rafa been sacked yet??? #justasking”
