Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has admitted it would be a “dream” to play for Manchester United despite Arsenal’s interest in signing the Montpellier defender.

The 23-year-old was linked with a switch to The Emirates during the summer but a move failed to materialise, although Arsene Wenger is reported to be still interested in the centre-half.

The Gunners did snap up Yanga-Mbiwa’s team-mate Olivier Giroud from the defending Ligue 1 champions but the France international has admitted his love for a different Premier League club.

“My dream is to play with the shirt of Manchester United in a match in Old Trafford. My favourite club is United without doubt,” he told France Football.

“When I sleep I dream of scoring a decisive goal with my head at a corner. That would be very beautiful.”
