Andre Villas-Boas was left thrilled by a “fully deserved” victory after Gareth Bale’s second-half hat-trick helped Tottenham ease to victory over Aston Villa.

After a goalless first half, Jermain Defoe gave the visitors the lead from close range, before Bale struck three times in 23 minutes at Villa Park to condemn Paul Lambert’s men to another heavy defeat following their 8-0 drubbing at the hands of Chelsea on Sunday.

The win hoists Tottenham up into fourth place in the Premier League table on goal difference, two points behind third-placed Chelsea.

And the Spurs boss was understandably delighted with his side’s dominant performance.

“It was very good from start to finish. We fully deserved it,” Villas-Boas told BBC Sport.

“It didn’t happen for us in the first half but we kept our concentration and came on very strong in the second half.

“If one team was going to win it, it was us and overall it was a very good performance.”
