Chelsea transfers: Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri admits Frank Lampard would be a "fantastic" signing for the Ligue 2 outfit
Claudio Ranieri has admitted Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard would be a “fantastic” signing for Monaco.
The 34-year-old’s future has been a source of constant speculation, with the midfielder’s contract set to expire in the summer.
Lampard has been linked with a move to LA Galaxy and Queens Park Rangers in recent weeks, and Monaco manager Ranieri revealed his interest in the England international.
“It would be fantastic,” Ranieri ESPN STAR Sports. “[He could perform well in France] – why not? Frank could play in every country.”
Monaco are owned by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, and the Ligue 2 outfit’s ambition extends beyond Lampard.
The French club has been linked with a swoop for David Beckham, who quit La Galaxy this month, and Ranieri is keen to bring the former Real Madrid star to the Stade de Louis II.
“He is the same – he is a big champion,” Ranieri added. “He would be a good professional player for us. I like all the champions and he is a champion.”
