Chelsea interim boss Rafael Benítez is keen to tie up any January dealings as soon as possible after the transfer window opens.

The Blues have been linked with a host of top players in recent months, including Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian and Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao.

Chelsea could be without John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses during the African Nations Cup, and with Oriol Romeu ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, Benítez is aware that the Blues will need reinforcements.

And the former Liverpool manager would like to conclude any business as early as possible.

He said: “I think that all the managers want to have things done as soon as possible, but we will see.

“We have the problem also of Oriol Romeu, so we are a little bit short.

“Obviously if you ask me when, I’d say as soon as possible. The 1st of January is better than the 20th of January.”
