Radamel Falcao has insisted he will be staying at Atletico Madrid until the end of the season despite reports linking the striker with a move to Chelsea in January.

The 26-year-old is rated as one of the best strikers in European football after netting an impressive 17 goals in 16 La Liga appearances this term.

The Colombia international, who scored a first-half hat-trick against Chelsea in the Uefa Super Cup back in August, has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and Real Madrid in recent weeks.

But the former Porto striker acknowledged Atletico’s chairman Enrique Cerezo has gone to great lengths to keep him at the club, and Falcao does not expect to leave during next month’s transfer window.

“I recognise the great effort made by [Atletico president]Enrique Cerezo for me to stay at the club,” said Falcao.

“I thank God our results have been so positive and that we have done so well this season so far. My expectation is that I will be staying at the club until the end of the season.”
