Demba Ba latest: Newcastle boss Alan Pardew wants quick resolution
Demba Ba latest: Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is keen to see striker's future resolved as soon as possible
Alan Pardew admits that he is keen to see Demba Ba’s future resolved as soon as possible as the striker continues to be linked with a Newcastle exit.
Ba had been thought to be on the verge of securing a move to Chelsea but talks are reported to have been unsuccessful, with Arsenal said to be among the other clubs keen on securing the Senegal striker’s signature in January.
The 27-year-old has a £7.5m release clause in his contract which becomes active in January, and Pardew appears resigned to losing the forward during next month’s window.
But the Newcastle boss admits that he has grown tired of the constant speculation over Ba’s future in the media in recent days, claiming much of it is untrue.
Pardew said: “I feel a little bit sorry for Demba because I think the people that are representing him are not actually representing him.
“There are people fuelling this who are not actually involved – that is the sort of world we are in.
“The contract is what it is, we are all aware of that. For me as the manager I need it resolved as quickly as possible. That is the best situation for our fans and our club.”
When asked if there was a contract offer on the table for Ba to stay at St James’ Park, Pardew replied: “Yes there is.”
