David Moyes has heaped praise on Everton’s Leon Osman after the midfielder’s brilliant start to the campaign.

The 31-year-old has been one of the standout performers for the Toffees this term as Moyes’ men continue to stay in the hunt for a fouth-place finish.

Osman, who has scored two goals in 18 Premier League games this season, earned his first England cap in a 4-2 loss to Sweden in October.

But Moyes is not surprised by Osman’s performances, and the Everton manager believes only now is the Toffees youth graduate getting the recognition that he deserves.

“He has been very underestimated over the years but now he is not,” said Moyes.

“He has recently been selected for England and some of his performances have been terrific.

“He has taken on a lot of leadership jobs now, he is a good lad around the place and is a big part of the team and a big part of how we want to play.

“It was great he moved out of position on Saturday and was terrific and arguably he has been one of our best players of the season.”
