Fulham transfers: Martin Jol dismisses reports linking David Beckham with a January move to Craven Cottage
Fulham manager Martin Jol has ruled out a January move for former England captain David Beckham.
The 37-year-old played his last game for LA Galaxy at the weekend as the American outfit lifted the MLS Cup after victory over Houston Dynamo, with his next destination currently unclear.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star has been linked with a move to cash-rich Paris Saint-German and Australian side Melbourne Heart in recent weeks.
Craven Cottage has also been touted as a possible destination for the midfielder but Fulham boss Jol insists a move would be a “non-starter”.
“We want to try and get a younger team. On average, we are the oldest team in the Premier League and it would be crazy to get players like David Beckham for Alex Kacaniklic, Kerim Frei and Pajtim Kasami,” Jol told the Fulham & Hammersmith Chronicle.
“He’s an unbelievable player and he’s good to have around, but for us it’s a non-starter.”
