Gareth Bale and Michael Dawson return to Tottenham training
Tottenham handed a boost ahead of clash against Stoke as Gareth Bale and Michael Dawson return to full training
Tottenham winger Gareth Bale has resumed full training and is in contention for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Stoke at White Hart Lane.
Bale was forced off with a hamstring injury in the 3-0 win over Fulham earlier this month, causing him to miss the defeat to Everton and Sunday’s victory against Swansea.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed Bale is back to full fitness and available for selection.
“It’s good news,” Villas-Boas said. “First, for the player because he wants to be back in the group and he’s made a tremendous recovery. He’s worked extremely hard.”
The Spurs boss is also pleased to welcome back defensive duo Michael Dawson and Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who join Scott Parker on the growing list of recoveries.
Dawson suffered a similar injury to Bale against Fulham while Assou-Ekotto has been a long-term absentee.
“Michael was injured in the same game as Gareth and they’ve both returned to training,” Villas-Boas added. “It’s great to have them back.
“Benoit is also recovering his fitness, along with Scott Parker.
“Scott is a little ahead of Benoit, but he’s getting back into shape and back into contention.”
