Roberto Mancini felt Manchester City’s tiredness hampered the Premier League champions after they were held to a draw by a battling Everton at Eastlands on Saturday.

Everton took the lead at the Etihad Stadium when Marouane Fellaini tapped home Leighton Baines’ cross after Joe Hart saved his initial header.

But Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez equalised from the penalty spot after Fellaini was adjudged to have fouled Edin Dzeko in the box.

The point puts City top of the Premier League table on goal difference, level on points with Manchester United, who face Reading later on Saturday.

“It was a hard game. In the first half we went down and it was difficult, like every game against Everton,” Mancini told BBC Sport.

“We tried to break them down but this week we have played three games in six days so we are tired. We also have players injured.”
