Man City transfers: Daniele De Rossi plays down Roma exit reports
Man City transfers: Daniele De Rossi says he "lives" for Roma, dashing the Citizens' hopes of signing the Italy midfielder
Daniele De Rossi has reaffirmed his commitment to Roma by claiming he “lives” for the Serie A outfit, dashing Manchester City’s hopes of signing the Italy international.
The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from the Italian capital in recent months, with City understood to keen on bringing the 29-year-old to Eastlands after missing out on his signature last summer.
AC Milan are also reported to be interested in luring the midfielder to the San Siro, but De Rossi has played down the chances of him quitting the club as the January transfer window looms.
“I was born in Rome. For me, it is the normal thing to play right here. I never tried, or really wanted, to play outside for another team,” De Rossi told the New York Times.
“For me, it is amazing, great. I first came to the training centre when I was 12-years-old. It’s my home.
“President James Pallotta said I am not on the market, not for sale. I repeat, I still love this city and the club. Everything I love is here. It would be so difficult for me if I have to change.
“If some clubs want me, my manager will have to talk with them.
“I live for this club. My story is that I live for the club and, for me, leaving would be a drama, a big drama. I would like to stay here.”
Roma president James Pallotta earlier this month insisted that De Rossi will not be sold in the January transfer window.
