Pedro Obiang’s agent has revealed that the Manchester City target is unlikely to leave Sampdoria in January.

Roberto Mancini is understood to be a long-term admirer of the Spain Under-19 international, who has made 11 appearances for the Serie A side so far this season.

A number of other Italian sides are interested in the 20-year-old midfielder but his agent, Jose Miguel Gonzalez, insists there has been no contact with other clubs and played down the chances of his client leaving Sampdoria in January.

“Honestly, we have not received any calls,” Gonzalez told Calciomercato.it.

“At the moment there is nothing, it is still early. A transfer in January? I do not think it is possible, it is easier in June.

“We know that several teams are following him and some scouts from England and Spain saw him [during the recent 2-2 draw] at Fiorentina, but there is nothing concrete so it is needless to name names.”
