The Red Devils missed out on their 20th top-flight crown as City mounted a dramatic comeback to beat QPR 3-2 and pip their local rivals to the title on goal difference.
Ferguson’s men find themselves six points clear at the top of the table heading into the hectic festive fixture schedule.
And the United boss wants his players to use last season’s disappointment as a source of motivation in the coming months.
“I’ve still got a wee bit of anger in me, thinking of how we threw the league away last season,” Ferguson was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
“It was another day in the history of Manchester United. That’s all it was. It created the drama that only United can produce.
“My motivation to the players will be that we can’t let City beat us twice in a row.”
Manchester United travel to Swansea City in the Premier League on Sunday.
