Patrice Evra has played down speculation linking the Manchester United defender with a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain but admits he is flattered by the Ligue 1 club’s reported interest.

Evra’s future has been under the spotlight in recent weeks, with the left-back’s current deal set to expire at the end of next season.

But the 31-year-old United defender, who captained the Red Devils to victory over fierce rivals Manchester City at Eastlands on Sunday, insists he is happy at Old Trafford.

“You would have to kill Ferguson before bringing me to Paris,” Evra was quoted as saying by Canal Plus.

“For now, there is nothing to do. I have a year left on my contract. I am at Manchester United. I am captain and I am happy.

“But it’s always a pleasure to be wanted by a club such as Paris St Germain, especially as I am Parisian.”
