Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out making any January additions to his Manchester United squad next month.

The Red Devils have been linked with a host of players in recent weeks, including the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Theo Walcott and Wilfried Zaha.

But Ferguson, whose side are currently six points clear at the top of the Premier League table, says he is not planning to strengthen his side over the winter.

“I will not be bringing anybody in, in January, definitely not,” Ferguson told the Mail on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Manchester United manager was full of praise for captain Nemanja Vidic, who made his return to first-team action in the 3-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday after a lengthy lay-off following knee surgery.

“I’m delighted Vidic is a back – he’s a warrior,” Ferguson said. “It will take him time to get full match fitness but it is a start.

“Hopefully by the time new year is over we’ll still be top of the league.”
