Norwich 3 Man City 4: Roberto Mancini says his side showed they are "up for the title" after edging an entertaining game
Roberto Mancini praised his Manchester City side’s resilience after they held off a spirited Norwich to claim victory at Carrow Road.
City were 2-0 up with just four minutes played as Edin Dzeko netted a quick-fire brace, before Anthony Pilkington’s free-kick halved the Citizens’ advantage.
Samir Nasri was sent off for violent conduct just before half-time, but City scored a third through Sergio Aguero five minutes after the re-start.
Norwich’s Russell Martin then netted a brace either side of a Mark Bunn own goal but Mancini’s men clung on for victory.
“For me, I think that we played fantastic for 25 minutes and should have scored three or four,” Mancini told BBC Sport.
“I don’t know why [Nasri was sent-off] as the linesman was there and I don’t know what he saw. We saw the video both play touch heads. With 10 men it was difficult. The guys played very well.
“It was like at Sunderland but this time we scored. Today we showed we are there for the title.”
