Lambert wants Aston Villa response after being ‘beaten up’ at Chelsea
Paul Lambert demands a response from his Aston Villa side after they were thrashed by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday
Paul Lambert has called on his Aston Villa side to respond to their 8-0 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea by returning to winning ways against Tottenham Hotspur on Boxing Day.
Lambert’s men were ripped apart by the west Londoners at Stamford Bridge as they dropped into 16th place in the Premier League table, just three points above the relegation zone.
Tottenham travel to Villa Park on Wednesday looking to return to winning ways after their goalless draw with Stoke on Saturday.
And Lambert has demanded a response from his side on Boxing Day following their dire performance on Sunday.
“We were beaten up pretty badly from start to finish. The lads know themselves that that was not acceptable,” said Lambert.
“We were second best all over the pitch, I am not going to stand here and make excuses.”
“You can’t feel sorry for yourselves, you take your medicine in football and you have to go again.
“We have got two days to mull over it and we have got to go again on Wednesday [against Tottenham].”
