QPR boss Harry Redknapp not thinking about 110-year record

Records continue to tumble at Queens Park Rangers and should Harry Redknapp’s fourth game in charge not herald three points, the Hoops’ class of 2012 will become the first to endure 17 winless top-flight outings since Bolton in 1902.

It’s not a prospect Redknapp even dared entertain as he prepares his side for the visit of Fulham to Loftus Road.

The Cottagers, however, fresh from Monday night’s 2-1 success at home to Newcastle, will no doubt fancy their chances of inflicting the historic blow.

“I don’t think about that happening. I think about us winning. That’s the only thing that enters my mind,” Redknapp insisted.

“Obviously they need that win. The longer it goes the tougher it gets. It’s so important for us. I’ve just got to keep believing.

“The win would make a big difference to the club and to everyone around the place. It’s a London derby, a big game, we’ve got to really get after it and give it a go.”

But even in his short tenure, Redknapp has learned plenty about the limitations of his squad, and rubbished the idea that he has a good team at his disposal.

“People keep saying you’ve got a good team but you can’t be a good team if you don’t win for 14 games, can you? I knew what I was coming in to,” he said.

“We just lack a little bit in one or two positions that make the difference. That is the problem.

“I knew it was going to be tough. You don’t go 14 games without winning a game if it’s going to be easy. That was there for everybody to see just how difficult it is.”
