Berbatov’s summer move from Manchester United raised more than a few eyebrows and Redknapp, too, cannot fathom why he wasn’t courted by the Premier League’s elite.
“He’s just a fantastic player whatever mood he’s in,” said Redknapp.
“I think he’s top drawer, the signing of the summer. I was surprised more teams didn’t go in for him.
“He could play in any team in the country.”
The Hoops, still eight points from safety, entertain Martin Jol’s men on the back of three successive draws, but Redknapp conceded his side are already at full tilt.
“I can’t get any more out of them,” he added.
“I’m getting the best I can out of them. That’s the best I can do, and there’s nothing more I can do, but keep trying to get them to perform to their maximum. If they do that, we’ve got a chance of getting some wins on the board.
“We’ve got what we’ve got. This is the team I’ve been given. We’re close to getting that first win I feel, so hopefully it will come tomorrow.
“It won’t be easy, Fulham have done well. They’re a tough team to beat, they’ve got some quality. Jol has done great with them.”
“We’ve got to give blood, sweat and tears Saturday.”
