Frank Lampard scored twice to help Chelsea successfully complete a comeback and secure a 2-1 victory at Goodison Park.

The 33-year-old’s contract is set to expire in the summer with the Champions League holders reportedly prepared to let the midfielder leave the club.

However, the professionals on Twitter urged the Blues to see sense and offer the England international a new deal after an impressive display.

England legend Gary Lineker (‏@GaryLineker) expects plenty of interest in the former West Ham man: “Don’t think Frank Lampard will be short of offers should Chelsea be so foolish as to release him.”

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright (‏@IanWright0) is shocked the Blues haven’t offered Lampard a new deal: “Can’t believe Chelsea not going to sign Lamps!”

Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones (‏@KJ9nes) hails the England international after the midfielder scores his second: “Lampard is a legend!”

Republic of Ireland defender Sean St Ledger (‏@seanstledger12) praises the effervescent veteran: “Lampard – age isn’t nothing but a number!!”

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand ‏(@rioferdy5) says his England colleague will also find the net: “Lampard = Goals!”

Ex-Wimbledon striker Jason Euell ‏(@jasoneuell) is succinct in his views: “Lampard = Boss! #justsayin”

Ex-Crystal Palace striker Mark Bright ‏(@Mark__Bright) adds: “Did I already say Super Frank?”

Former Everton winger Kevin Kilbane (‏@kdkilbane77) can’t fathom why the Blues would let Lampard leave: “How can Chelsea afford to lose Lampard? He delivers time and time again. #Class act!”

United legend Norman Whiteside retweets his wife Mrs W ‏(@WhitesideDee): “I think Frank Lampard’s next contract might be at Old Trafford. What do you reckon? :) #fergiejansigning”

Commonwealth boxing champion George Groves (‏@StGeorgeGroves) wants Lampard to stay: “Get Frank Lampard a contract.. What ever he wants! For as long as he wants! #CFC #SuperFrank”
