Shinji Kagawa and Rafael will miss Manchester United’s trip to Swansea City on Sunday, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed.

Rafael missed last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Sunderland at Old Trafford with a hamstring strain, while Kagawa has been sidelined with a knee injury.

Japan international Kagawa has not featured for United since he was substituted with a knee problem during the 3-2 Champions League win over Braga at Old Trafford on 23 October.

Ferguson also confirmed that Jonny Evans, who on Friday signed a new three-and-a-half year contract with the Red Devils, is fit for Sunday’s trip to South Wales.

“Jonny has had one or two injuries but hopefully they’re behind him now,” Ferguson told a news conference on Friday. “He’s fit for Sunday’s game, while Kagawa takes training with the first team on Monday.”

Ferguson revealed that Nemanja Vidic is likely to be named on the bench for Sunday’s clash, but Nani remains out injured.

“Vida is doing great in training, it’s just a matter of picking the time to bring him back,” he continued.

“It gives me options with Smalling, Jones, Ferdinand, Evans. It’s very good, and better for us. Rafa won’t make Sunday’s game as he’s still out with a hamstring. Nani is still injured. Apart from those players, we’re all right.”
