Swansea’s Michael Laudrup: Arsenal won’t win Premier League title
Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup dismisses Arsenal's chances of winning the Premier League title this season
Michael Laudrup has dismissed Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League title ahead of Swansea City’s visit to the Emirates on Saturday.
Arsenal are already 12 points behind league leaders Manchester United with just 14 games played, with their chances of ending an eight-year wait to win the top-flight crown looking slim.
High-flying Swansea are a point behind Arsene Wenger’s side in the Premier League table after a 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday.
Laudrup, who won five La Liga titles as a player during spells at Barcelona and Real Madrid, believes Arsenal have fallen too far behind their rivals to make up the distance this sterm.
“No [Arsenal can’t win the title],” said Laudrup.
“Not because they have dropped points but because I think the title is only between the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea, and at the moment the Manchester clubs have the advantage in terms of points and momentum.
“The Manchester sides are very strong, they win tough games. Look at Manchester City at Wigan. It was a difficult game, it was 0-0 for a long time, and then they get two goals and three points and head home.
“They are very solid and win games when they are not playing well.”
