Tottenham transfers: Gareth Bale insists he is not afraid to play abroad amid reported interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid
Gareth Bale has hinted at a possible switch to La Liga after the Tottenham Hotspur winger admitted he is not afraid to play abroad.
The 23-year-old has six goals in 14 Premier League appearances this term, prompting reported interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The Wales international, who was named PFA Player of the Year in 2011, was unable to help fire Spurs into the Champions League last season.
And the Tottenham winger admits he wants to be playing in Europe’s premier club competition, and the Southampton youth graduate intends to take any offers from abroad seriously.
“It would be nice to experience other leagues and other cultures,” Bale told the Daily Telegraph.
“I’ve always said I’m not afraid to go abroad. If the times comes and a team that’s right comes and in for me, then I’ll look at it seriously. I’ll see what happens.”
Bale has scored 36 goals in 176 appearances for Tottenham after moving to White Hart Lane from the Saints in a £7m deal in 2007.
