Tottenham transfers: Andre Villas-Boas says Spurs are not planning to make any major signings in the January window
Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that Tottenham are not planning to make any major signings during the January transfer window.
Spurs have been linked with moves for the likes of Shaktar Donetsk midfielder Willian and Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen in recent weeks.
But the Tottenham boss, whose side are fourth in the Premier League table, says the north Londoners are unlikely to bring in reinforcements next month.
“You won’t see Tottenham doing anything in the beginning of January, if we do anything,” Villas-Boas told Sky Sports.
“Buying players early in the window makes a difference to the preparation in pre-season but, during the season, it doesn’t have the same effect. I think we are comfortable with how things are.
“[Chairman Daniel Levy and I] spoke about the January situation and the eventuality that we could look to strengthen the squad to be better.
“What came out of those conversations was that our level of focus is not to do a lot in January.”
