Tottenham transfers: Andre Villas-Boas does not feel that he needs to add to his Spurs squad in the January window
Andre Villas-Boas does not believe needs to strengthen his Tottenham Hotspur squad in the January transfer window.
Spurs, who dropped to fifth place in the Premier League table on Saturday after their goalless draw against Stoke City, have been linked with a number of players in recent months, including Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian.
But Villas-Boas, who has also been reported to be interested in signing Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen, believes he has more than enough options currently available in his squad, despite Clint Dempsey having sat out Saturday’s game with a groin injury.
“I don’t think we need to do anything,” said Villas-Boas. “We have Clint out. He is a massive player for us. He has had a big impact. He scored 17 goals last season so we have to count on him.
“He plays striker, plays wings and plays through the middle so he gives us that option. [Andros] Townsend the other day had a good game. We had opted for Gylfi Sigurdsson coming in [against Stoke] but I think we have options.”
