Wenger: Scoring trio show Arsenal have done well in transfer market
Arsene Wenger says goals from Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla show Arsenal have "done well" with transfers

Arsene Wenger believes that Wednesday’s goals from summer signings Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla prove that Arsenal have “done well” in the transfer market.
The trio, who arrived at Emirates Stadium last summer, all netted as the Gunners came from a goal down to thrash West Ham United 5-1 in north London.
Podolski, signed from Cologne, drew Arsenal level with a stunning 25-yard strike, before former Montpellier man Giroud netted a goal either side of ex-Malaga midfielder Cazorla’s tap-in.
Wenger’s dealings in the transfer market have been called into question in recent seasons but the Frenchman is adamant that the critics have been proved wrong by last summer’s activity.
“It’s positive because we see the players like Giroud and Podolski and Cazorla, who were questioned at some stage, they have come in this season and are getting better,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.
“That’s very good news. It means we have done well in the transfer market. That is always questioned.”
Arsenal remain in sixth in the Premier League table but have closed the gap on fourth-placed Tottenham to four points.
