Ashley Cole believes Chelsea can bounce back from their Capital One Cup disappointment in emphatic fashion by winning the rest of their games this season.

The Blues were dumped out of the League Cup on Wednesday after suffering a 2-0 aggregate defeat by Swansea, leaving the FA Cup and Europa League as their main chances of silverware this season, with Manchester United 11 points ahead of the Londoners at the top of the Premier League table.

Chelsea were in the hunt for seven trophies at the start of the season – and with three still up for grabs, Cole is determined to help the Blues finish the campaign with a positive run.

“It is all big games now and this is what we are here for, to win trophies,” Cole, who signed a one-year contract extension this week, told Chelsea’s website.

“If we can win every game this season, which is not impossible, we know at the end of the season we are going to be rewarded.”

Chelsea travel to League One side Brentford on Sunday in the fourth round of the FA Cup – and Cole has warned his team-mates to expect a testing encounter.

“They are going to be really up for it,” he added. “They will put some tackles in and we know it is going to be a tough game, but if we can dominate with some of the great players we have then hopefully we are going to win the game.”
