Meanwhile, our resident betting expert is tipping Chelsea, who lost to the Hoops last week, to pick up a point at Stoke City, while also predicting both teams to score.
Bale has been in impressive form in recent weeks, scoring six goals in his last seven starts for the north London club. This includes the Wales international’s hat-trick against struggling Aston Villa on Boxing Day. With QPR boasting one of the leakiest defences in the division, the Tipster is backing Bale to net any time against the Hoops at 6/4.
The Tipster can’t quite believe the price on a Tottenham win at Loftus Road (5/6). It’s his bet of the week! QPR won last time out in the league at Chelsea but that victory had more than an element of good fortune to it. They’ve lost at home five times in 10 home games, while high-flying Spurs have won seven of their last nine league encounters. So, the Tipster reckons Spurs to beat QPR at 5/6 is the standout bet this weekend.
The Tipster can’t understand why any away team should be odds-on away to Stoke but that is what Chelsea are at just under Evens at 10/11! After a series of early draws at the start of his reign, Rafael Benítez’s men looked like getting back into the title race as they put together an impressive run of results, with four consecutive league wins. However, this came crashing to a halt with a crushing defeat to bitter rivals QPR at home. The Tipster is backing the draw at 12/5.
After defending very impressively, Stoke have started to conceded a few goals at what was once a fortress – the Potters have conceded in last four home games! Benítez could go with new signing Ba instead of Torres, who struggled against Swansea. The Blues have found the net in all but one away game this season. So the Tipster thinks both teams to score at 5/6 looks good here.
Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool side raced into a 3-0 lead inside 30 minutes at QPR in the final match of 2012, with Suárez ripping Harry Redknapp’s defence apart. Spurs have similar attacking talents in their squad with the likes of Bale and Jermain Defoe. With QPR’s best defender Ryan Nelsen set to take charge of Toronto in the near future, it could be a long 90 minutes for the home side. The Tipster feels Spurs to score four goals or more against the Hoops is worth a punt at 7/1.
