Carlos Tévez has expressed an interest in returning to his former club Boca Juniors – but the Manchester City striker doesn’t expect to leave the Premier League champions any time soon.

The 28-year-old has been weighing up a two-year contract extension at the Citizens with just 18 months left on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium.

City manager Roberto Mancini and Tévez fell out last September when the former West Ham United striker refused to come on as a second-half substitute in their Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich.

The Argentine missed most of the campaign following the confrontation, before returning to Mancini’s first-team in March and scoring four goals as City won the Premier League title.

Tévez has continued his goal-scoring form this term, notching eight goals in 14 appearances, and the forward hinted that he could extend his stay by another two years.

“I’ve got one year left on my contract and they want to renew it for two more – they made an investment,” Tévez is reported to have told an Argentine radio station.

“If it was up to me, I’d want to go back, but it’s difficult. They’re not going to extend my contract for nothing. I’m honest, I’ll stay two more years and then I’ll head back.”
