Michael Owen: My season at Stoke City hasn’t gone as planned
Michael Owen admits he is hoping for a better second half to the season after finding his first-term chances limited at Stoke
Michael Owen admits his season at Stoke City has not gone to plan after finding his first-team opportunities severely limited at the Britannia Stadium.
The former England striker has only made six appearances so far this season and scored one goal since joining the club on a free transfer last summer.
But despite finding it hard to break into Tony Pulis’ first-team, the 33-year-old forward is hoping for a better second half of the season.
“I felt involved right from the off really, but since then it hasn’t quite worked out as planned for whatever reason and part of that is due to having a couple of niggling injuries, but other parts of it are down to other reasons,” said Owen.
“The season hasn’t gone the way I wanted it to because I have hardly played, hardly scored and haven’t really been involved in the season at all as yet.”
He added: “Hopefully though, the second half of the season can be a lot better for me.”
