Newcastle transfers: Moussa Sissoko interested in Magpies switch
Newcastle transfers: Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko admits he is interested in a move to St James' Park
Moussa Sissoko has admitted he is interested in a move to Newcastle United, with the Magpies reported to be close to signing the Toulouse star.
The 23-year-old has been attracting interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs with his contract set to expire in the summer, including Liverpool and Newcastle, while Queens Park Rangers have also been monitoring the midfielder.
Alan Pardew is believed to be leading the race for his signature – but it is unclear whether Sissoko will join in January or complete a move in the summer.
“Newcastle is a club that attracts me, even if it has not a good ranking currently, but I am not scared with that,” he told L’Equipe.
“I trust that group considering what they achieved last season. Moreover the officials have invested a lot on quality French players. They will have better result in the second part of the season.
“All those Frenchman is reassuring. I know them well and that would help me to adapt.”
Sissoko played down the chances of him following compatriot Loic Remy to QPR, although the midfielder did admit he would consider a move to the Hoops striker’s former club Marseille.
“QPR? I am a little less attracted,” added Sissoko.
“There are also good players there, but the situation is much more complex. However I don’t close any door.
“Marseille and Monaco? They are still attractive. But I would prefer to discover Premier League. It is the league that should match my football the best.”
