QPR transfers: Harry Redknapp unsure of Peter Odemwingie transfer
QPR transfers: Harry Redknapp doubts whether the Hoops will be able to complete a deal for West Brom's Peter Odemwingie
Harry Redknapp says that he is unsure whether Queens Park Rangers will sign wantaway West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
On Monday morning, the Baggies revealed a second offer for the Nigeria international from the west London side had been rejected, despite the striker’s desire to leave.
Odemwingie took his Twitter account over the weekend to vent his frustration at having a transfer request rejected by West Brom, with Redknapp keen to bolster his attacking options at the Hoops.
But the 65-year-old expressed his doubts over a possible deal for the Baggies forward, adding the touted transfer has became “too public”.
“I don’t know [whether the transfer will go ahead],” said Redknapp.
“It’s a bit of a difficult situation for West Brom. It’s not worked out in an ideal way. The whole situation has become a bit too public really hasn’t it? I am sure West Brom are not too happy with the way it’s gone.
“We made an enquiry. The enquiry leaked out and obviously the player decided he wanted to come to London and that’s how it has worked out. I think too many people get involved in Twitter.”
The former Lokomotiv Moscow took his Twitter account on Sunday night – and again on Monday morning – to explain his actions earlier in the weekend.
“Looked through my tweets. Deleted some. It was too much. Only excuses – home alone, dark, son and wife in hospital, frustrated,” said the striker.
He added: “Between now and summer I will show you all a money move! Busybodies!”
