QPR transfers: ‘M’Vila has probably played his last game for Rennes’
QPR transfers: Rennes say Yann M'Vila has probably played his last game for the club, with the Hoops desperate to sign the mifielder
Rennes say Yann M’Vila has probably played his last game for the Ligue 1 outfit amid growing speculation over a possible move to Queens Park Rangers.
The 22-year-old has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs over the past month, including Fulham, Reading and Tottenham Hotspur.
But the Hoops were believed to be close to finalising a £7m deal for the midfielder after his France team-mate Loic Remy completed a switch to Loftus Road on Thursday.
Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi refused to indicate which club M’Vila could be joining, but he did confirm the midfielder is unlikely to feature again for the two-time Ligue 1 champions.
“There is a good chance that this is the last game Yann M’Vila will have played for Rennes, ” he said.
On Friday, Redknapp urged M’Vila to join QPR, advising the midfielder that an impressive spell at the west London outfit could lead to a move to a big club in the future.
“I told him that he would come here and be a good player, and if he does well, if we stay up, in 18 months he could get a move to Manchester United, or Arsenal, or Chelsea, if that is what he is looking for,” said Redknapp.
“In the meantime he could come here and we put him on the stage and show what he can do.
“If we can build a team then hopefully he will stay with us. If not he will put himself on the stage for bigger things.”
