Tottenham transfers: Villas-Boas comfortable with January ‘risk’
Tottenham transfers: Andre Villas-Boas insists Spurs are prepared to take the risk of not bringing in any new strikers this month
Andre Villas-Boas insists Tottenham are prepared to take the “risk” of not signing any new strikers in January.
The north Londoners are currently without Emmanuel Adebayor, who is on international duty with Togo at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Jermain Defoe is also currently sidelined with an ankle injury but the Spurs boss does not expect to bring in any attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
“We are happy with the options we have, but we understand injuries can put us in a difficult position,” Villas-Boas said.
“I think, as I have told you before we are comfortable. It [not signing anyone] is a risk we are willing to take.
“We will have to see when we can get Ade back but we did not lose [against Leeds in the FA Cup] because we missed chances that a striker may have taken. We lost because we could not create enough clear-cut chances.”
