Villas-Boas is a long-term admirer of the Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker, with the Portuguese coach having attempted to bring the Brazilian to Chelsea last January while he was still in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Willian has been linked with potential moves to Chelsea and Tottenham in recent months and the Spurs coach has revealed that he is keen on luring the 24-year-old to White Hart Lane.
“We got it touch with Willian and he is one of the players that interests us,” Villas-Boas was quoted as saying by Lancenet.
“I like his style but we could not reach a deal with Shakhtar in the summer. That does not mean we won’t try again though.”
Willian has recently said that he is “working” to seal a move away from Shaktar.
“As for a possible transfer, there will be offers for sure and I work so that it happens,” Willian said in November.
“My club and my representatives will decide my future. I’m focused on helping Shakhtar to keep making history in the Champions League.”
Meanwhile, Villas-Boas also revealed that he would be interested in signing Brazil striker Leandro Damiao from Internacional.
He added: “For Damiao, he had a spectacular Olympics. We follow the best players and youngsters. Leandro fits this profile. He is a player that is always on our list.”
