Clarke’s men have been one of the surprise packages this term, with the Baggies in fourth place a matter of weeks ago before suffering a slump in form.
Liverpool are reported to be interested in Shane Long, while Peter Odemwingie and Jonas Olsson were both linked with moves away from the Hawthorns, with the latter said to be an Arsenal target.
But Clarke insisted that the Baggies have no plans to cash-in on their star men this month.
“It’s not unsettling for me in any way because I know that, come February 1, the players that I need to be here will still be here,” he said.
The West Brom boss also revealed he was unaware of a supposed £3.5m release clause in Olsson’s contract – and still does not envisage the Swedish defender leaving the Hawthorns.
“I don’t do contracts – it’s not my job – and I didn’t know there was a story about it,” he added.
“Contracts are personal, at least I think they are personal.
“I don’t think it’s right for me to sit and discuss the ins and outs of Jonas’s contract at this moment in time.
“But why would I expect to lose him in January? It’s complete speculation about Jonas Olsson. January is the ‘silly season’.
“We can hang on to every single player. We don’t have to sell anybody.
“Speculation is natural because people make up stories to generate the interest. I know they make them up.”
