Karim El Ahmadi says Christian Benteke is “priceless” to Aston Villa after the striker scored a brace in a 3-3 draw with Everton on Saturday.

The Belgium international netted in the second minute with a superb close-range finish before adding Villa’s third in the second half with a diving header.

The 22-year-old has now scored 10 goals in 22 appearances for the Birmingham outfit after completing a reported £7m move to Villa Park from Genk in the summer.

And El Ahmadi reckons Benteke, who signed a four-year deal at Villa, is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and could command a big transfer fee if he leaves Villa.

“Chris is one of the best strikers in the Premier League,” said El Ahmadi.

“There are games when he can be unplayable. Every week I am surprised by what he does and his ability.

“He is getting better every day. And he’s what? Just turned 22? That’s unbelievable. From the beginning he has been great forAston Villa.
“How much is he worth now? I don’t know about today’s prices but this is a league which pays £40m and £50m for strikers. He can be priceless for us.”

El Ahmadi also admitted Villa were bitterly disappointed to only take a point from Goodison Park after leading 3-1 in the second half.

“It feels like a defeat – we were so close to getting three points,” he added.

“But Fellaini is a player who nobody can stop from a corner. So you cannot blame the defence for that goal.”
