David Beckham can’t wait to make Champions League return with PSG
David Beckham admits his excitement at the prospect of featuring in the Champions League again when Paris Saint-Germain take on Valencia
David Beckham has admitted his excitement at the prospect of featuring in the Champions League again when Paris Saint-Germain take on Valencia next week.
The former England captain started his first game for the Ligue 1 leaders in their 2-0 Coupe de France win over Marseille in the French capital on Wednesday night.
PSG take on Valencia in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash next Wednesday and currently lead the La Liga side 2-1 from the first game.
And Beckham, who joined PSG from LA Galaxy last month, admits he is thrilled by the prospect of lining up in Europe’s premier club competition once again.
“I came here knowing that I wouldn’t be in the team from the word go,” said Beckham.
“We have a good team and I want to add something to it. If that means starting then great, and if it means being on the bench then great.
“I played in some big games in the USA but you always miss being involved in big games like this in Europe.
“It is a while since I played in the Champions League so I am excited. It is a big game for the club but it doesn’t mean that it will be easy.”
