Swansea City booked their place in Europe after an emphatic 5-0 win against Bradford City in the Capital One Cup at Wembley.

Nathan Dyer and Jonathan de Guzman both scored twice, while Michu netted his 19th goal of the season, with Bradford goalkeeper Matt Duke sent off in the second half.

Here is the best of the Twitter reaction to Swansea’s success from the professionals, past and present, in chronological order.

Tottenham winger Kyle Walker ‏(@kyle28walker) leaps to Bradford’s defence after the first goal: “A lot of people saying Swansea have won it already! It’s not over till the fat lady sings #CapitalOneCupFinal!”

Former Wales international John Hartson (‏@JohnHartson10) has no sympathy for Bradford: “Great start for the Swans, they are keeping the ball for fun, Bradford can’t get near them.. It’s like a training session for Swansea here.. People saying that’s a bit harsh on Bradford.. Nonsense football is a harsh game..”

Everton defender Shane Duffy ‏(@ShaneDuffy34) can’t remember a shot for the League Two side in the opening half: “Have Bradford had a shot yet?”

QPR defender Chris Samba (‏@cs4christsamba1) can only see one winner after Michu’s strike: “Well must say it’s looking like Swansea all the way now!”

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand (‏@rioferdy5) adds: “Michu + Dyer….game is done! Not a bad shout from me predicting a Swans win!!”

Reading striker Noel Hunt ‏(@boyhunt) felt referee Kevin Friend could have avoided sending off Matt Duke: “Common sense ref man!!! The peno was enough!!!”

While former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore (‏@StanCollymore) says De Guzman was the right option to take the penalty: “De Guzman is the designated penalty taker, agreed by all pre match. No fuss, no dramas, he was right to take it. That’s why they are designated.”

But current Reds striker Adam Morgan ‏(@AMorgan94) disagrees: “Should have let Nathan Dyer take that.. Fantastic football by Swansea, I feel for Bradford though! Great club hope they get promotion! #spirit”

But Morgan gets told off by his elders, Robbie Fowler ‏(@Robbie9Fowler): “@AMorgan94 not they shouldn’t Morgo… Team comes first, not personal glory.”

Perhaps former Leicester striker Darren Eadie ‏(@eadie11) has best solution:
“Dyer should not ask to take it, De Guzman should of offered. Dyer should respect that someone else wants to score too!”

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott (‏@JoleonLescott) praises both sides: “Congrats to #Swansea for winning but a great achievement for #Bradford on reaching the final. Think the Swans will do well in Europe.”

Former England captain Michael Vaughan (‏@MichaelVaughan) wants to know if Swansea’s match-winner against Chelsea gets a medal: “Swansea ball boy surely gets a winners medal…….”

Tottenham winger Gareth Bale ‏(@GarethBale11) congratulates his former Southampton team-mate: “Congrats on winning the Capital One Cup @NathDyer87, can’t believe you got bullied off the penalty :p”

Former League Cup winner Gaizka Mendieta (‏@GaizkaMendieta6_) has his say: “Congratulations to @SwansOfficial!”

Finally, Swansea striker Michu (‏@Michuoviedo) thanks everyone for their support: “Champions!!!!Thank you all!!!”
