Philippe Coutinho scored his first Liverpool goal as Brendan Rodgers’ side bounced back from Thursday’s Europa League loss by thrashing Swansea 5-0 at Anfield.

In the FA Cup, Chelsea were comfortable 4-0 winners against Brentford, Manchester City won by an identical scoreline against Leeds United at the Etihad Stadium, and Wigan Athletic secured a 4-1 victory at Huddersfield Town.

Here is the best of the Twitter reaction from the professionals, in chronological order, to a hectic Sunday.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour ‏(@RealRomfordPele) was impressed by City: “Easy win for Man City! Good performance, in the hat for the quarter-final draw.”

Former world champion boxer and City fan Ricky Hatton (‏@HitmanHatton) enjoyed the friendly rivalry between the home side and Leeds: “Great performance from the Blues. Comfortable. But top banter from the Leeds fans. Fair play.”

England legend Gary Lineker (‏@GaryLineker) puts Liverpool’s performance into perspective: “The way Swansea are going you’d think they had a big final coming up.”

But former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer (‏@MCATEER4) hopes the win will help come next Thursday’s Europa League tie: “Goals pay the rent!!! Great result for the boys sets us up nicely for the game Thursday.”

Stoke striker Michael Owen (‏@themichaelowen) was impressed by his former team: “What a game at Anfield. Liverpool were brilliant while Swansea were poor. They made seven changes in light of their Cup Final next weekend.”

And his team-mate Lucas Leiva ‏(@LucasLeiva87) praises his compatriot: “Great win today. Special congratulations to Coutinho on his first goal.”

Finally, former Middlesbrough midfielder Gaizka Mendieta (‏@GaizkaMendieta6) comments on Sunday’s forgotten game: “Huddersfield 1- 4 @LaticsOfficial proper FACup game !! Always competitive!! Congrats to Wigan!!”
