Liverpool striker Fabio Borini looks set to miss the rest of the season after suffering an apparent dislocated shoulder in the Reds’ 5-0 win over Swansea on Sunday.

The Italian forward fell awkwardly in the closing stages of the Premier League clash at Anfield and manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the 21-year-old is unlikely to feature again this term.

Rodgers said: “He will probably be out for the season. It looks like he’s dislocated his shoulder.

“It’s unfortunate. It’s actually the other shoulder to a similar injury he had when he was at Chelsea.

“It looks like in the early stages that is the diagnosis.”

Borini, who joined the Reds from Roma last summer, has already spent over three months on the sidelines this season after suffering a broken foot while on international duty with Italy’s Under-21 squad in October.
