Man City transfers: Mancini already plotting summer spending spree
Roberto Mancini says that he is already discussing how he plans to strengthen his Manchester City squad in the summer
Roberto Mancini has revealed that he is already discussing how he plans to strengthen his Manchester City squad in the summer transfer window with director of football Txiki Begiristain.
City brought in Ghanaian striker Godsway Donyoh on transfer deadline day after Mario Balotelli sealed a move back to Italy and joined AC Milan.
The Citizens failed in their attempts to lure Robin van Persie to Eastlands last summer, with the former Arsenal striker opting to join Manchester United.
The Manchester City boss admits that it is difficult to secure top talent during the January window and hopes to add to his squad in the summer.
“It is difficult in January to find really good players for us,” said Mancini.
“Club’s don’t want to sell now, maybe they will in the summer. We need to work now, so that it is not like last year.
“I have meetings with Txiki [Begiristain, Director of Football] every week and we talk about the summer.
“It will be easier to get players in the summer if we work hard, well and quickly now.”
