My heart lies with Man United! Cristiano Ronaldo rules out Man City move
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo says he could never join Manchester City as his heart lies with former club Manchester United
Cristiano Ronaldo says he could never join Manchester City because the Real Madrid star’s heart lies with his old club Manchester United.
The 28-year-old is set to face his former employers for the first time since leaving in 2009 when Madrid take on the Red Devils in their Champions League last-16 first-leg tie at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night.
Ronaldo’s future at Los Blancos has been a source of constant speculation this season after a difficult spell at the La Liga champions.
And the Portugal international has been linked with a move to Premier League holders City in the summer, but Ronaldo is adamant that a transfer to Eastlands won’t materialise.
“To play for City not United? I’m not going to do that. Why? Because my heart’s in Manchester United, that’s why,” he told the Sun.
“I can say it would be very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very difficult to play at Manchester City. Very difficult because of Manchester United.”
Ronaldo also moved to rubbish reports of his unhappiness at Madrid, with the forward insisting he feels settled in the Spanish capital.
However, the Portugal captain, who scored 118 goals in 292 appearances for United, refused to rule out a possible return to Old Trafford in the future.
“I am a player of Real Madrid and I’m happy here, my family is happy and everything is going well for me here. The future? I don’t know – only God knows the future.
“I can’t say I’m never going back to Man United, but I can say I’m good here and I want to be here.
“Let’s leave it at that and see what God gives me in the future, but I repeat I am happy here at Madrid.”
